Currency Exchange - Out of this World Exchange Rate
For those worried about the currency exchange rate of the dollar or the pound, then perhaps now is the time to invest in the Quasi Universal Intergalactic Denomination.
According to a report on the BBC, a new currency specifically for those intent on intergalactic travel has been issue though there is no word on the currency exchange rate as yet. Scientists developed the currency especially for would be space explorers and named it Quasi Universal Intergalactic Denomination (QUID). The currency exchange of this denomination may not be that straightforward and don't expect to be allowed to use it in your local supermarket any time soon.
Currency Exchange - Moon Money
The Quasi Universal Intergalactic Denomination was, according to the report on the BBC, carefully designed in order to withstand the stresses and strains associated with space travel and has no sharp edges or chemicals which would have the potential to injure space tourists. So far as the currency exchange rate of QUID is concerned, this is yet to be firmly agreed but it present some currency exchange companies are quoting £6.25 to the QUID. The unique endeavour to create a universal currency to be used in space was developed by scientists at the National Space Centre and the University of Leicester and they have a perfectly valid reason for the development of the currency. Speaking to the BBC, Professor George Fraser of Leicester University, stated, "None of the existing payment systems we use on earth - like cash, credit or debit cards - could be used in space."
Currency Exchange - Money at Zero Gravity
Currency exchange issues aside, the QUID is a viable option to be the first common currency to be used when space tourism becomes increasingly mainstream in the years to come. The currency exchange rate for the denomination will invariably be a bone of contention initially but once this obstacle is overcome, the is no reason why the Quasi Universal Intergalactic Denomination can't become the accepted currency for outer space. Speaking to the BBC, Professor Fraser points to the increasingly likelihood of space tourism and the need for a universal currency, "In the fullness of time we will have to adopt a universal currency if we are going to carry out serious commerce in space. It's an interesting initiative."
